Celebrating Workers Memorial Day for Fire Fighters Worldwide

Posted by Bryan on 4/28/2013
Fire fighters across the United States are encouraged by the National Association of Firefighters to observe Workers Memorial Day. This date, which serves as Workers Memorial Day internationally, was agreed to by the IAFF. April 28 also corresponds with the Canadian National Day of Mourning and is anniversary of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, better known as OSHA. In 1989, this day was officially dubbed Workers Memorial Day.

On April 28, fire fighters and those of us who have deep appreciation for them, will show support for their fellow emergency first responders. Today is a day to honor those that have been killed, hurt or suffered the loss of their brethren in the course of saving lives.

Organizations that represent fire fighters are encouraged to make their voices heard, by putting together local action groups, attending relevant activities, watching out for their regional communities and making today and every April 28 an important day nationally and internationally for all fire fighters.
