As an EMT you know better than anyone else what type of equipment you will need on any given call. Health care issues for the mobile EMT or Paramedic can arise quickly and with out warning. This is one of the first lessons learnt in the EMS field.

Whether your scene is an elderly sick patent who requires medical attention to the multiple vehicle accidents; what is in your bag can make a large difference in how you can treat your patient and what you can do for them. A large verity of items can be stored inside an EMT bag. Bag valve masks (BVM), Nasal Cannulas, Trauma Dressings, tapes, gauze, Blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, some medications and just about anything else the EMT wants to carry. But having the right bag is just as important as what the bag will carry.

The EMT bag must be lightweight, sturdy and durable, yet it must be washable.
A bag with many different sized pockets for placing larger and smaller sized items is a must. A side pocket for a small sharps container is a plus for the Paramedic. A shoulder strap to carry the bag with is handy when other things must be carried at a scene.

The EMT's bag will carry all of his or her tools of the trade and is one of the most important items they will keep in their possession. Therefore, it must fit the need of its owner to go with any situation that arises. The look and design of the bag can be personalized to the owner, but the size of the bag chosen will depend upon what equipment the EMT wants to carry.
