Honoring All of America's Bravest: A List of Brave American Careers

Posted by Bryan on 6/9/2012 to Fire Fighting
Everyday we read news stories detailing the bravery of our Firefighting brothers and sisters across America. Everyday, we feel proud. To honor our friends, and the rest of America's finest and bravest, we've added a few more career paths that are often overlooked and taken for granted. Without some of these difficult professions, our country would not be the same.
  1. We begin, of course, with the Firefighter. These brave men and women are the people we call when our lives are in danger. Firefighter don't only put out fires, they come to our aid in the worst of times: disasters such as floods, man-made disasters like hazardous waste and chemical spills, and even when America itself was under attack. To these great heroes, we all owe so much.
  2. On the topic of sacrifice and dedication, a career that stands out is policeman. Policemen are the men and women we rely on to keep our towns and cities safe. They are ready to put their lives on the line in order to protect civilians. Without them, there would be no law and order.
  3. U.S. Marine serve our country with dignity and pride. These men and women serve our country from both land and sea, and are the first line of defense against external threats.
  4. Like Marines, Army Soldiers help protect our country. Army Soldiers do an amazing job of dedicating themselves to our country and our protection in everything from line-of-defense duties to engineering and technology.
  5. Oil Rig workers use physical labor to maintain pipelines and oil rigs, both on and offshore. Whether we like it or not, oil still drives everything we do and oil rig workers are the ones whom work these difficult, labor-intensive jobs to keep America moving.
  6. Deep sea fishermen face the harshest elements. Fisheries across the U.S. and the world rely on these fishermen, and we rely on them to bring the seas to our dinner table.
  7. Teachers are on a different scale of braveness. They educate generations of Americans, preparing and inspiring along the way. The men and women serve a crucial role in our society, ensuring that all other professions on this list are even possible.
  8. Prosecutors bring charges on criminals. It's they job to put and keep criminals off the streets and in jail. They often deal with threats and the scrutiny of our justice system.
  9. DEA agents put themselves in harm's way in order to enforce drug laws. These individuals face dangers you and I only witness in movies. From drug busts to undercover operations, DEA agents are some of the bravest SOBs on the planet.
  10. U.S. Marshals uphold the federal courts' laws and maintain the authority of the judicial system. And if you've ever seen the movie, you know just how dangerous being a U.S. Marshal can be.
